All kittens are cute, and finding a name that will reflect the fun and loving nature of the newest addition to your household can sometimes be a little challenging. When picking cute kitten names, there are some important features to consider:

• Kitten to adulthood: It is important to pick a name that will sound as good to you when your kitten has grown into a full-sized, sleek, adult cat as it does when he is a little bundle of fluff. Some cute kitten names are excellent for a tiny kitten, but might sound strange on an older cat. Will 'Tinykins' still be quite the right name when your cat is full sized?

• Easy for kitten to recognize: In order for kittens and cats to recognize their names, it is important that the name has strong sounds. It is particularly important to ensure that if there are other pets in the household that the name sounds are different. While "Schnookem" and "Dookem" sound different to you, will two little kittens be able to distinguish which name belongs to each of them?

• Okay to say in public: Another important thing to remember is that your little kitten may, at some stage, go outside. You will therefore be using his name to call him in at night or at mealtimes, and this will mean calling his name in public. "Mister Fluffy Nose" might be a great name to call in the house, but imagine what your neighbors will think!

• Celebrity names: Some celebrity names can be adapted or varied, creating your own special kitten names. Sports stars, pop singers and other celebrities have some great names just waiting to be adapted. Iconic names also make a great choice. A pair of kittens could be named after some of the great double acts of the past; Oliver and Hardy, Fred and Ginger or Bob and Bing are a few that immediately spring to mind.

• Tradition: There are some very traditional cats names. These include the names from cartoon cats such as Sylvester, Tom or Felix. There is no reason why these names shouldn't be given a contemporary makeover or an unusual twist.
