Free Cat Treats
From LoveToKnow Cats
Getting free cat treats is a great way to save money as well as try new products. Since cats can be very fussy about what they eat, the "try before you buy" aspect of free treats and pet foods is attractive to most consumers.
Why Do Companies Give Free Samples?
One way to get free treats for your cat is to ask for them at your vet or local pet supply store. Sales reps leave sample sizes of product with the vet so that he or she can hand them out to clients. Sometimes they will be displayed near the reception area. If you don't see them, don't be shy about asking if they have a sample of the cat treats that they carry. If they don't have sample packages, sometimes they will open a regular package so that your pet can try the product.
Companies give away samples of their products because they know that it builds their brand and creates consumer loyalty. By giving you treats for your cat, Companies know that there is a good possibility that they will win you as a customer. In addition to that, viral marketing is a term you will hear more and more. Simply put, it means that the hype about a product spreads easily. When they send you free samples, the company hopes that you will tell your friends. This free advertising is surprisingly effective and costs only the amount of the free sample.
Many of these companies have their own websites. By visiting the site and spending a minute or two browsing, you may find an offer for free product. You may want to consider registering with the site even though you may have to divulge a bit of personal information, like your address and e-mail address. This allows you to receive special offers, coupons and opportunities to try new products that you would not otherwise have.
Why Companies Ask for Private Information
Normally one thing that you will need to do to get your free product sample is give the company various personal information that they require. This usually includes your:
- Name
- Address
- Phone number
- E-mail address
- Information about income
- Information about family size
Asking this information allows the manufacturer to view a cross section of consumers and find out who is using their product. This info helps them target their advertising to the consumers that actually use their products.
Although some companies sell the names that they get in this way, most do not. However, when you provide the information that they ask for, you will be more likely to receive coupons, offers, news of special events and more free samples from these companies.
Where to Find Free Cat Treats
There are a large number of coupon and freebie websites listed on Google and other search engines. They stay up to date on which manufacturer is offering a free item, a coupon or a special offer of some kind. It is a good idea to check back often so that you can get the items you are interested in when they become available.
- Free Pet Treats sends you a sample of cat treats to promote good training habits.
- Purina Snack Lover's Club is a page where you can register with Purina to be part of surveys, pre-market product testing and more. You can get all kinds of opportunities for free cat treats and other items just by registering.
- Full Petential has cat treats for free.
- Greenies offers free samples of their products.
- Friskies is a manufacturer's website. Keep checking back to find opportunities for free cat treats and other products.
Free treats for your pet keep both you and your cat happy. Always read the fine print in any offer because some still charge shipping while others do not. Never give more information on a website than you feel comfortable giving. Free products are great, but you must be careful who you trust. For another frugal idea, consider making homemade cat treats.

Hi Emma,
Unless she is so thin it is unhealthy, it is probably better to keep her weight down. Try mixing some of the canned with dry, if you'd like to get her to eat a bit more food, or offer her an additional small amount each day. You may also want to offer her some healthy, wholesome cat treats, which should be available through your local pet supply store.
