Why We Love Cats

Funny cat films may include favorite movies that you still treasure today, or funny movie clips found on broadcast-it-yourself sites like YouTube. You may have even taken some funny videos of your own feline friends.

Why do people love cats, and why do people love films about cats? Whether or not you've ever owned a cat or a cat has owned you, you've probably noticed that people are generally one of two types—cat lovers or cat haters. In many cases, the reasons that people love and hate cats are the same. Cats are independent thinkers, and, unlike dogs, may not choose to love you twenty-four hours a day. What people often fail to realize is that a cat really does love his owner, he just doesn't always show that love affectionately. If he chooses to allow you to scratch him behind his ears, he is showing his love by not walking away. If he sits on the back of a chair and playfully scratches or bites your arm as you walk by, it is his way of getting your attention and telling you he wants to interact, even if it is a bit of a violent interaction.

Cats walk to the beat of their own drummer. They have distinct personalities. Many are aloof, while others are always looking for a lap to climb into. However, aren't people the same way? While dogs are typically always ready for affection, a romp in the yard and a pat on the head, cats are more prone to let you know when they will "allow" you to love them. For some people, this independence is intriguing, and this is why they are drawn to anything and everything having to do with cats, including artwork, photos and even humorous cat films.
