To make your own beef and rice cat food, few ingredients are necessary. However, it is important to determine whether you will be making your own food for the long haul as opposed to a short-term measure, perhaps due to a health crisis. Make Your Own Beef and Rice Cat Food Recipes

If you've decided that you need to make your own beef and rice cat food or other cat treats, a trip to the local grocery will help you locate many, if not all, of the ingredients required. Some ingredients, such as additional nutrients, can be found in the health food section of most grocery stores or at a health food store.

Most of the following recipes can be prepared with common kitchen equipment such as a saucepan, spatula or heat safe spoon and a mixing bowl. A food processor may be used to help mix some of the recipes, especially if a cat has difficulty chewing food.

Simple Beefy Rice

If you already have some cooked beef on hand, the following recipe is simple to make for adult cats:

  • 1 cup of cooked brown rice
  • 8 ounces of cooked beef
  • 1/2 cup of beef broth

Combine ingredients in a saucepan and cook on medium heat until well incorporated. Allow to cool completely before serving to your cat. The leftovers may be stored in the refrigerator in a closed container for several days.

Hamburger and Rice Dinner

This recipe can be used short term or long term for your cat:

  • 2/3 cup of raw ground beef
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 4-ounce jar of pureed vegetables (baby food)
  • 1/3 cup of cooked brown rice

In a small saucepan over medium heat, simmer the raw ground beef with water until light brown, while stirring frequently. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Add the vegetables and cooked rice and mix until well incorporated, and then serve to your cat. Leftovers may be stored in a closed container in the refrigerator for several days.

Beef and Rice Dinner

To make this recipe you'll need the following ingredients and a food processor:

  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp cooked green beans
  • 1 tbsp cooked carrots
  • 2 tbsp cooked ground beef
  • 1/3 cup cooked brown rice
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Pour the olive oil in a saucepan and heat over a low flame. Add all of the ingredients and sauté. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. Place ingredients in a food processor and puree, and then serve to your cat. Leftovers may be saved in an airtight container for several days in the refrigerator.

Healthy Beef and Rice Dinner

This recipe meets the minimum daily dietary requirements for an adult feline:

  • 1/4 pound of ground beef
  • 2 large hard-boiled eggs, finely chopped
  • 2 cups of cooked white rice
  • 1 tbsp of vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp of calcium carbonate
  • 1/8 tsp of salt substitute
  • 1 crushed cat supplement tablet
  • 250 mg taurine tablet, crushed (if not already included in supplement tablet)

Pour the vegetable oil into a saucepan and add the ground beef. Cook the ground beef over low flame until light brown, stirring frequently. Remove from heat and allow to cool completely. In a bowl, mix all of the ingredients until well incorporated. Serve to your cat. Leftovers may be saved for several days in the refrigerator if kept in an airtight container.

Before you decide to make your own cat food, check with your pet's veterinarian, especially if your pet has an existing health problem. In addition, some animals are allergic to specific foods or they have difficulty digesting certain grains such as brown rice.
