Naming Your New Kitten or Cat
From LoveToKnow Cats
Some of you may not know this, but in 1995 I wrote a book called The Name Game, which looked at how and why people name their pets. I took a cross section of people, some celebrities and some everyday people like you and I. I chose this topic because when it comes to naming your new kitten or cat, sometimes people who are not pet lovers don’t understand the depths to which we go to name our new loved ones. It is the equivalent of naming your child, in my humble opinion.
There are many wonderful books out there that have fun, interesting different names. Whether it’s a pet naming book or child naming book, all of them have great suggestions. When you take the time to live with your kitty or cat, get to know their personality, their likes and dislikes. An appropriate name will always pop into your head.
Overall, take the time in getting to know your pet, have fun, and least of all don’t stress out about it, a name WILL come to you.
