Different Types of Siamese Cats
Enjoy viewing some different types of Siamese cats in this slideshow.
The Siamese has really changed looks over the last few decades. Once a rather cobby, apple-headed feline, show breeders have bred toward long, elegant lines and wedge-shaped heads. These cats also come in colors that are variations of the traditional pointed color pattern.
The show-type Siamese has a distinctly triangular or wedge-shaped face. Here, the long lines of the wedgie are clearly evident.
In contrast, the traditional applehead Siamese is stockier with a rounder face.
An interesting fact: All Siamese are white at birth. The points begin to show in a few weeks and become fuller over the coming months.
Seal points are fawn-colored on the body with rich, dark brown points that continue to darken with age.
The blue point Siamese has a white body overlaid with blue-gray points.
The lilac point Siamese has a white body overlaid with pinkish-gray points.
The chocolate point Siamese has warm cocoa-colored points laid over a cream-colored body coat.
Color Point Shorthair
This lynx point tabby was produced by breedings between Siamese and Domestic Shorhaired cats. The Cat Fanciers' Association now regards the Color Point Shorthair as a breed in its own right.
