From LoveToKnow Cats

Sandra Yvonne Duke is a freelance writer, editor and paralegal living in the mountains. She began writing fiction as a child and poetry in high school. In 1997 she started Whiskey Light Publishing at 23, publishing two volumes of poetry and producing promotional materials including t-shirts, coffee cups, shot glasses, and book marks. Her non-fiction career began with a weekly column on Freedom. Her range of topics quickly grew to include pets and pet health, classic auto repair, book and movie reviews, legal research, work-at-home, Second Amendment issues, civil rights, lifestyles, herbal medicine and much more. In addition to her freelance business, Sandra is currently editor and publisher of Real Food for Health and Pleasure and operates Whiskey Light Publishing producing greeting cards and other products featuring her original photography.

In 1987 Sandra became a veterinary assistant at age thirteen on a volunteer basis. Although she was young, she was immediately given full training and duties including assisting with surgery, full after-care responsibilities, performing simple lab tests, socialization of abused patients, and assisting in the examination room. Although she was too young to earn wages, Dr. Chalkly paid for her classes and she obtained her Small Animal Dietician Certificate at age fourteen. Throughout the years she has continued studying pet health and behavior on a personal basis. She is now pursuing her education in Holistic Animal Care for Companion Animals through Clayton College.
