Hi Lmot,
I think the author's purpose was to try to get those with kittens to offer to think about the best way to find good homes for their pets. Most pet lovers would never harm a kitten. Unfortunately, there are people out there who will.
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardI honestly thing this article is off base. The majority of people would be good pet owners to a "free" kitten.
-- Contributed by: ImotHi Kenny,
There are some Siamese cat rescue shelters around. Although a kitten may seem like a great idea, you might also want to consider an adult cat that is a few years old. Kittens are easy for shelters to adopt out, but adult cats can sometimes have a hard time finding a home. Also, contact your local animal shelters in your area and let them know you are in the market for a Siamese cat. Many will take your name and contact info and let you know if one comes in that might be a good match for you. The adoption fee is typically around $100.00 or less.
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardI'm looking for a Siamese kitten and I'm willing to buy one for $100.00 I live in Connersville, Indiana and my wife and I had a Siamese but it died on us this year and we want to replace it with a Siamese kitten...
Thanks and God Bless You.
Yours in Christ,
Kenny P.

Try looking for flyers on your local laundry mat and library bulletin boards. You're likely to find someone giving cats away. Good luck!
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardI'm looking for a free cat or kitten to bring into my home. I have a male cat who is declawed and nutered who has been use to being around other cats and a very active puppy. But reccently we moved into a new home he and I and with me at work all day I feel bad that my poor little Rudy is home all alone now. I'd love to get him a mate for company. I don't care if this new sweetie is a male or female but I feel a female would be better for him. The territory issue could be a problem if I brought another male in the house. I live off of Glenwood Ave close to Crab Tree mall so I'm new to the area. But I'd come and get a new sweetie if you could help me fine a new free cat or kitten for my Rudy. Thank you Carol

I'm so sorry, but we have a policy that we remove all personal information from comments. It is for your own protection, since the comments are open to anyone out there, including spammers who troll different sites constantly trying to harvest addresses. I do have some ideas for you on finding those sweet kitties a good home, however.
- Put a flier up in the local library, post office and laundromats in the area. You are within your right to ask questions and screen anyone who phones wanting a kitten to make sure they are going to good homes.
- Tell everyone you know that the kittens need a home. Many may know someone looking for a kitten.
- Place an ad in your local newspaper. This is usually done very inexpensively if the kittens are free to good home.
- Talk to local pet stores and see if they'd be willing to take the kittens.
If all else fails, you may have a local no kill shelter in your area who would take the kittens for you and keep them until a home can be located. Good luck!

$100 does seem like a lot, but remember that the fee usually includes a spay/neuter and shots. This would likely cost you more than that on your own. One thing you can discuss with the Humane Society too is adopting an adult cat. It usually costs much less.
Also, try your local animal shelters and animal control. We adopted our cat for $30.00 from our local animal control about five years ago. That fee included a certificate to take her to the local vet for a spay when she was old enough. She'd already had her shots. Every area is different in the amounts they charge, so call around and you'll likely find an option that suits you.

-- Contributed by: LoriSoardhello everyone. i am giving away my beautiful kittens because i am moving out of state and can not care for them anymore. it breaks my heart but i have to do it. i would love to give them away to someone who will give them a good home. i have a female and a male. they are brother and sister. i have had them since they were 3 weeks old, they are now 9 months old. they havent been seperated since birth so i would like to give them to someone that could keep both of them. they are playful, sweet and love affection.
-- Contributed by: karlaI have been looking for a kitten for about a month now. I had no idea that the Humane Society is charging over $100 just to adopt a feline.
-- Contributed by: KimHi Lee,
Probably the best place to find free kittens in your area is in your local newspaper. However, sometimes it is worth the expense of adopting from an animal shelter as these cats are often spayed/neutered and have their shots. This can save you a bundle in vet costs.

-- Contributed by: Emerald BeltranHi Bobby,
That's so sad about the kitten. Please tell your wife not to blame herself. She would never have intentionally hurt the kitten and that could truly have happened to anyone.
Even though the kitten is sad and grieving over her sister being gone, bringing a new kitten into the home may actually make things worse. There is no guarantee that the two kittens will get along. I would think about the kitten's personality (dominant or docile) and really think things through before taking on another cat. If you do decide to go ahead, then I would check the local announcement boards and papers for free kittens. Good luck!

-- Contributed by: BobbyHi Norma,
She sounds like she was a sweet kitten. I think your best bet is to check your local papers and animal shelters for a new kitten. You may also want to consider adopting a grown cat. It is much harder for them to find homes, so you'll likely be saving a life. As a bonus, a grown cat is typically already spayed or neutered and sometimes declawed.
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardI need a kitten I fostered a feral kitten one time and it was a wonderful experience within a week she was so tame she would sleep on my face and neck. I didn't keep her because I was getting ready to have hip replacement surgery and I was afriad I would fall. She was a little love and I found her a wonderful home Mom,Dad and 2 girls.
-- Contributed by: Norma HollisHi Crystal,
I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis. Your best bet with the kittens is to try to phone no kill animal shelters in your area. They will place the kittens for you and will typically keep them as long as necessary with a foster Mom. I hope you are able to beat your illness and feel better soon.
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardI recently found out I have cancer and I have 3 15 week old kittens I need to give to a good home. I don't want to put them out on the street. They are tabby kittens and their are 2 males, 1 female
-- Contributed by: crystal hunterHi Ricky,
When you find a little of kittens, spend some time with them. Try to look for the one that is most docile and hold each kitten in your arms. Usually, the one that tolerates being held without squirming and that will let you hold it on its back is the most docile. This isn't always the case, but is a good indicator.
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardHi Rebecca,
Kittens bring so much fun to our lives, don't they? You can likely find free kittens in your local neighborhood. Look for signs posted on the side of the road or in the newspaper. You might also let family and friends know you're looking. Good luck!
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardlooking for kittens.
-- Contributed by: rebecca HylemonHi Karen,
You can find kittens through your local newspaper and sometimes through family and friends. Another option that is often better is the local animal shelter. You may have to pay a small adoption fee, but it typically includes shots and spay or neuter.
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardHi Ana,
Your best bet for finding a free kitten is your local free weekly newspaper and bulletin boards at laundry mats, the library and the grocery store. Many people list kittens in these sources. Hope that helps!
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardHey my name is karen and i was looking for a free kitten i would appreciate having a home kitten for me to spoil. Thanks
-- Contributed by: KarenI would like a free kitten to adopt because I have been searching for some in a long time.
-- Contributed by: anaHello, Ty. Your best bet is going to be the local animal shelters. They have many different cats for adoption and the fee typically includes shots and a spay or neuter. Also, by meeting the kitten in person, you can choose the personality that matches your household best.
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardMy fiance and I are animal lovers. We have a four month old Yorkie puppy named Lainey and up until very recently we had an American Short-Hair male cat named Marley. We would like to give a healthy kitten a great and loving home. Lainey has been devestated since Marley passed and to be honest so have my fiance and I. We are great parents and spoil our "children" endlessly. Please respond as soon as is convenient. Thank you for your time.

Let us know if you're able to locate your new kitten. Try local newspapers and postings in laundromats and other public places to locate one. Good luck :)
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardHi, I am looking for a kitten. It doesn't matter the color or breed.

-- Contributed by: jenniferHi Alicia,
A lot of people go through the local animal shelters. The adoption fee typically covers a checkup, shots and spay or neuter. These are all things you'll have to do anyway, but you'll actually save money by going through the adoption process.
Other than that, look at bulletin boards at libraries, laundry mats, the post office and grocery stores. You can sometimes find listings for free kittens.
Hope that helps :)
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardHello out there! I am looking for a free kitten for my husband, he loves cats and has been talking about getting a cat for himself. I have finally caved and have agreed but I would like to get him a kitten to raise but I don't seem to find them like we use to when we were young. It use to be where you can open up your paper and there were free kitten give aways or kittens for sale everywhere but now I can't seem to find one....help!
-- Contributed by: AliciaHi Julie,
There are several sources for getting free kittens. You may want to try your local newspaper. Or, just let family and friends know that you're looking and they'll likely know of someone who has free kittens available. Good luck!

-- Contributed by: julieHi Dawn,
I'm so sorry to hear about Angel. That is really tragic. I removed your location for your own safety. Anyone out there can look at these boards and I wouldn't want someone with poor intentions to get your personal information.
My best suggestion is to get a picture of Angel and make up a flyer on your computer asking folks to let you know if they have a kitten available with similar looks. You can then hang the flyers up in local laundry mats and your vet's office.
You may want to consider going to the local rescue shelter, though, and seeing if any of the kittens has a similar temperament as your other cat. Sometimes a cat with a different look will help ease your grief but not remind you too much of the deceased pet. Good luck! I hope you find what you're looking for :)

Your best bet is the local animal shelters. You'll find quite a few kittens there. For a small adoption fee, you will likely also get her first shots and spay or neuter.
Enjoy!

The best places to locate a new kitten are local animal shelters and the newspapers. Although you'll likely pay an adoption fee at the shelter, this usually includes at least first shots and often spay/neuter. Hope your mother finds the perfect cat for her!

-- Contributed by: RosslynHi Estracia,
There are a few things you can do to locate exotic kittens. First, you can check online at sites such as Pets4You and do a search in your area code. You may also want to ask local pet shelters and rescue services as exotic cats are sometimes hard to train and their owners will give them up. With a little persistence, you should be able to find the perfect cat for you. Good luck!

- Hi Kimberly,
There could be shipping/travel expenses involved when searching for cats online. My best advice is to search locally through your newspaper and neighborhood shelters. Who knows, the perfect feline companion may be waiting for you right now.
Thanks for your inquiry.
-- Contributed by: kimberly clementhey, im 14 years old and my moms sick and she really wants two kittens to love her.. and if you can please write me back, thanks you =]
- Hi Cassidy,
I'm really sorry to hear your mom isn't feeling well. I think you best bet for finding kitten companions is to look in your home town. Sometimes people will advertise free kittens in your local newspapers, and shelters frequently have kittens available for a fee that covers spaying/neutering and vaccinations. I hope you'll be able to find some kittens to brighten your mom's day. :)
-- Contributed by: cassidy serckHi Melissa,
I'm sorry to hear that you lost your cat. Your best source for free kittens will be through your local animal shelter. Although you will pay a small adoption fee, this usually includes a complete check by their vets or a local vet, spay or neuter or at least the kitten's first shots. It usually winds up costing less than if you were to go on your own too.
You may also want to consider adopting an adult cat. Adult cats need good homes and most are not there because of behavior problems, which is a common misconception. It is usually a little cheaper to adopt the adult cats from the shelter than a kitten, because the shelter is eager to place their adult cats. You can get a young adult cat of a year or two old, for example. If your heart is set on a kitten, there should be plenty of kittens available as well.
Your other option is your local newspaper, which should list free kittens and possibly local laundry mat message boards. Good luck in finding a new feline companion.

Good luck with your search. :)

How wonderful that you are willing to give an older and/or disabled cat a loving home. Kittens are sweet and cute, but older cats often have a hard time finding a home, so you'll be doing something really good here. Unfortunately, I've never been to London, but I did a search for "North London". I found several links you can try:
- Cat Chat: This site lists several different organizations in and around your area that rescue and adopt out cats.
- Disabled Animals Club: Lists many different rescue shelters in the UK for a wide variety of pets.
- North London Cats: Provides pictures of a cat of the week and information on a wide variety of felines.
Hope this helps!
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardHi Jodi,
Your best bet for finding a new kitten is going to be local shelters and local want ads. The shelter will likely charge a small adoption fee, but that fee usually covers shots and spay or neuter. It is much less than it would cost to have these services performed on your own.
I did find two online sources that list ads in your area. This may help you locate some private owners who have kittens available.

-- Contributed by: carmenWe are looking for a kitten for our home. We are located in Worcester, Ma.
-- Contributed by: jodiHi Kaya and KittyLuver,
I am going to answer your questions together, because they are very similar. The best place to find a free kitten is going to be through your local free weekly newspaper in your area or the classified section of your Sunday paper. This is where owners will list available cats they have for sale or for free.
You may also want to check bulletin boards in your community at places such as the grocery store, post office, library and laundromats. Many times, people will post a flyer offering free kittens.
The online sources are going to be full of animal shelters listing their available pets. You do have an adoption fee through these places, which typically covers the shots and spay or neuter. Although $100 might sound like a high adoption fee, when you factor in the cost of having the shots and surgery on your own, it may be a good bargain.
If your local newspaper lists classifieds online, you may be able to find free kittens via that online resource.
Hope this helps!
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardI've looked on possibly every classifieds site in the world and cannot find a cute, free kitten in my area! When I go to pet shops or shelters nothing is under $100 and the choices are truthfully beauty-challenged! Help me, please :)

-- Contributed by: KayaHi Emily,
Your best bet is to check the local newspapers and animal shelters to find free or inexpensive cats in your area.
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardHi Stacey,
Your best bet is probably the local animal shelter. There, you can find a wide variety of kittens. The adoption fee typically includes shots and spay or neuter. You may also want to check your local newspaper for listings of free kittens.
Hope you find the perfect companion for your daughter!

-- Contributed by: staceycan i have a kitten
-- Contributed by: emilyHi Pursha,
Keep in mind that once the kittens are purchased, you still have the cost of regular vaccinations and treatment for any illnesses. However, if you are prepared for those costs, you may want to check some sources, such as local animal shelters. Many offer adoption for $50 or so and that includes their first set of shots and sometimes even spay and neuter.
Another good source is local cat owners with non-breed specific kittens. These kittens are usually offered free. I would look in the local newspaper to locate some kittens near you. Good luck!
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardi will love to get 2 kittens as presenst for my little sisters but they all cost so much what shall i do ?
-- Contributed by: purshaHi, Kristine,
A kitten can be a wonderful pet for a girl. My own daughter has a cat we've had since she was five years old and it has been a good experience and taught her responsibility.
The best place to find a kitten for your daughter will be the local animal shelters or newspaper. There is usually a small adoption fee, but that covers shots and spaying or neutering.
Be sure you teach your daughter how to handle the kitten. Because of her young age, you need to supervise her closely with the kitten to prevent injury to the kitten and to prevent the kitten from scratching your daughter.
Good luck. I hope you find the perfect pet.
-- Contributed by: LoriSoardhi i would like a kitten any color just young so i can give to my 2 yr old daughter for xmas
-- Contributed by: kristineHi, Jan,
I'm an only child too. It's lonely sometimes, isn't it? Cats can be wonderful companions and friends.
We don't actually offer kittens on the site, but almost every town has a local animal shelter. There may even be one within walking distance or perhaps you could get a friend to drive you there?
Your other option would be to look in the local newspapers and see if anyone is offering free kittens. It is often a better deal to adopt one through the shelter because they often spay/neuter the cat before it is adopted out and the fee is much lower than taking the cat and having her spayed or him neutered by a veterinarian.
I hope this gives you some ideas and you're able to find a pet to keep you company.

Hi, Guinna. You don't mention how bad your cat is limping. Is he an outdoor cat or does he go outside? Is it possible he's been hit by a car or hurt in a fight with another animal? I would keep a close eye on him and if the limp does not improve, then take him to the vet to find out what might be causing the limp. Good luck!

Here is a website that lists animal shelters around your state:

-- Contributed by: LoriSoardI'd love to have a kitten. How much for the adoption fee and spay and neutering?
-- Contributed by: sashaHi Mario,
Have you tried looking for a kitten at your local animal shelter? That would be the quickest way to find a new feline companion. You might also find listings for kittens in the pet section of your local newspaper. Veterinarians sometimes know of cat owners who are looking for homes when their cat has a litter. You might want to call a few from your local phone book.
Hopefully one of these suggestions will work for you. Good luck!

-- Contributed by: mario_hampson@yahoo.comHi Elisabeh,
You should also check out area shelters once you get settled in your new home. They usually have quite a few cats and kittens in need of loving homes. You will have to pay an adoption fee, but it covers the cost of vaccinations and spaying/neutering. These are fees you would have to cover even if you got a free kitten, so it's well worth considering.
Best of luck with your move, and your search for a feline companion.
