Hi Melissa,

Unfortunately, without having his genealogy, it is impossible to say. However, vets see so many cat breed combinations that they typically make an excellent guess on what the parents might have been. He's likely very close. The cat sounds wonderful.

My Dad has a large male cat, large ears, extremely long tail, long limbed and long, thin body. Beautifully marked white with stripes and calico-type patterns. But some spots ,most of belly, and legs are almost hairless. Wonderful personality and intelligence. The vet thinks he is mixed with savannah or sphinx. Any info would be helpful. Thank you.

Hi Possoms Creek,

Thanks for the update to the article. Cat breeders often experiment and come up with new cross breeds. With hairless cats growing in popularity, we may see even more varieties soon.

There is 2 more hairless cats that I found not listed above. The Donskoy which is the first Russian hairless cat and the Dossow which is a new breed being made in USA of crossing the Savannah to the Donskoy.

Thank you, Sherri

Hi Lisa,

There is a sunscreen that is made for white cats that would probably work. Never, ever use human sunscreen on cats as the cat may ingest substances that would be toxic to a feline.

You should be able to find cat sunscreen at any pet supply store or online supply store.

I need to find a cat safe sunblock to use on a white cat with SCC already, AND a new rescue youngster to hopefully PREVENT him from getting SCC. Both are regular Domestic SH. My holistic and allo vets do not know where to get CAT safe sunblock to use on their ears and noses. I'm in Jacksonville, florida.

Thanks, Lisa^^

Hi Marie,

If you have your heart set on this breed, then it may be worth driving a bit and getting your pet from a reputable breeder in another state. While most breeders will not ship cats, because it can be dangerous for the pet, they will often sell to out-of-state pet lovers. You may want to try services such as Petfinder.com or check out the Cat Fancier's Organization breed search feature.

Hi Riley,

As long as you keep the cat indoors, which he or she should be kept indoors, the weather isn't likely to impact your cat's life span. I hope that helps. Good luck in convincing your mom to get a hairless cat. They are very unique.

I really enjoy hairless cats, and love learning about them. I am currently trying to persuade my mom into letting me buy one. I live in Canada, though, and have heard that my cat will live a shorter life becasue it is colder here than in other places.

is this true or not?
